Centre won't be allowed to interfere in school curriculum: Kerala CM V D Satheesan

NEW DELHI: Kerala chief minister V D Satheesan on Tuesday asserted that the Centre would not be allowed to interfere in the state’s freedom to decide the school curriculum, following a cabinet meeting that discussed education-related issues.Speaking to reporters, Satheesan said curriculum decisions fall within the state’s domain and reiterated that Kerala would safeguard its autonomy in shaping educational content for schools.“Centre won’t be allowed to interfere with state freedom to decide curriculum of schools,” the chief minister said after the cabinet meeting, according to PTI.His remarks come amid continuing debates between several states and the Union government over the implementation of education policies, curriculum frameworks and the extent of state control over school education.The Kerala government has maintained that it will preserve its authority over educational matters while ensuring that curriculum decisions reflect the state’s academic priorities and social context.(With inputs from PTI)
