NEW DELHI: Teenage sensation Vaibhav Sooryavanshi once again grabbed the spotlight, this time with his brilliance in the field, producing a stunning catch during India A’s emphatic 101-run victory over Afghanistan A in the Tri-Nation Series. While the 15-year-old couldn’t make the most of his start with the bat, he more than made up for it with a moment of athletic brilliance that left teammates and fans in awe.The spectacular effort came in the sixth over of Afghanistan A’s chase when pacer Anshul Kamboj induced a mistake from Khalid Taniwal, who had looked dangerous after striking a four and a six. What initially appeared to be a difficult chance soon turned into one of the catches of the tournament.Positioned in the field, Sooryavanshi reacted quickly as the ball came his way. Although he seemed to lose control momentarily, the youngster showed remarkable awareness and determination. Keeping his eyes fixed on the ball, he recovered swiftly, chased after it and completed a full-length dive to hold on to a sensational catch.Watch:The dismissal cut short Taniwal’s promising innings and handed India A an early breakthrough. While Kamboj was credited with the wicket, the loudest applause was reserved for Sooryavanshi, whose effort showcased his exceptional reflexes and commitment in the field.India A went on to dominate the contest and seal their place in the final. Defending 319/9, the bowlers struck regularly to keep Afghanistan A under pressure. The only resistance came through an 87-run stand between Faisal and Bihar for the fourth wicket. Bihar registered a half-century, while Faisal narrowly missed out on one, falling four runs short.Once that partnership was broken, Afghanistan A suffered a collapse and were eventually bowled out for 218 in 36.5 overs. Captain Tilak Varma’s bowling changes proved effective throughout the innings, while spinner Nishant Sindhu starred with figures that earned him the Player of the Match award. With the comprehensive victory, India A secured a spot in the final, while Afghanistan A’s hopes now hinge on the outcome of the final group-stage fixture between Sri Lanka A and Afghanistan A.
