Mahua Moitra alleges eggs thrown by ‘BJP goons’ outside her office, shares video
Mahua Moitra alleged that BJP workers threw eggs and vegetables at her office.

NEW DELHI: Trinamool Congress MP Mohua Moitra on Wednesday accused Bharatiya Janata Party workers of attacking her by pelting eggs and vegetables at her office in Krishnanagar. In a post on X, Moitra shared a video in which a large crowd was seen hurling eggs at her. “Currently being attacked by BJP goons with West Bengal Police watching on,” she wrote.“See what’s going on. With the police watching, this is a BJP mob. I have been standing here for the past one hour. I have called the DGP and everybody else, but the police are sitting and watching. The CRPF is watching,” Moitra said.“This is my area. I’m an MP here. I’m in my office. I am not going to move. Please see their faces. Tomorrow, the West Bengal government will deny it. No police will take cognizance. No court will take cognizance. The CRPF is watching,” she added.Earlier on Tuesday, the Calcutta high court directed the West Bengal government to ensure that the police register FIRs in all instances of egg pelting at persons accused in different cases or at political opponents.Hearing a PIL seeking directions to stop the menace of egg pelting at accused persons and political opponents in different parts of the state, a division bench comprising Acting Chief Justice Tapabrata Chakraborty and Justice Partha Sarathi Chatterjee verbally observed that an accused person’s fundamental rights cannot be taken away.Meanwhile, BJP state president Samik Bhattacharya said that throwing eggs is not BJP’s culture.Bhattacharya made a clear statement on “dim-ocracy,” saying it is not a model followed by the BJP. He urged party members to stay away from such activities, which could tarnish the party’s image across the country.
