Rain alert for India vs England 2nd T20I at Old Trafford; here's the latest forecast

NEW DELHI: After rain washed out the opening T20I, India will be hoping for better weather when they take on England in the second match of the five-game series at Old Trafford in Manchester on Saturday, July 4.The first T20I at Chester-le-Street ended in a no-result after India posted a competitive 189/7, thanks to half-centuries from Abhishek Sharma and captain Shreyas Iyer. Rain arrived towards the end of India’s innings and never relented, forcing the umpires to abandon the contest.Following a disappointing 2-0 T20I series defeat to Ireland, India will be desperate to return to winning ways. However, the weather could once again play a major role.

India vs England 2nd T20I: Manchester weather forecast

The latest forecast suggests that rain is once again a possibility in Manchester.During the day, temperatures are expected to touch 21°C, with considerable cloud cover and breezy conditions. There is a 57% chance of rain. There is around 1.3 mm of precipitation expected and nearly two hours of rainfall. Winds could gust up to 56 km/h, making conditions challenging.By the evening, when the match is scheduled, the temperature is likely to be around 16°C under cloudy skies. There is a 55% chance of showers, with humidity around 85% and cloud cover at 97%.The weather is expected to remain similar overnight, with temperatures dropping to 15°C, humidity rising to 95%, and another 55% chance of showers.

India hoping for uninterrupted contest

Unlike the opening game, both teams will be hoping the weather allows for a full 20-over contest.India’s batting showed promising signs in the first T20I, with Shreyas Iyer scoring 68 and Abhishek Sharma adding 59, while Shivam Dube’s unbeaten 42 provided a late flourish.With the series still level at 0-0 because of the washout, India will be eager to register their first win after the Ireland setback, while England will look to make home advantage count.
