'May next 250 years bring greater peace & progress': PM Modi congratulates Trump on US Independence Day
PM Modi congratulates Donald Trump on America’s 250 years of independence

NEW DELHI: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday congratulated US President Donald Trump and the American people on the 250th anniversary of the United States’ Independence. He described the India-US relationship as a force for global good rooted in shared democratic values.In a post on X, PM Modi said the partnership between India and the United States extends beyond strategic cooperation and is built on common beliefs in democracy, the rule of law and the potential of their people.“On behalf of 1.4 billion Indians, I extend my warmest congratulations to President Trump and the people of the United States on the historic 250th anniversary of your Independence,” PM Modi wrote.“India and the United States share more than a strategic partnership. Our shared belief in democracy, rule of law and the limitless potential of our people make our friendship a force for global good,” he added.PM Modi also expressed hope that ties between the two countries would continue to strengthen.“May the next 250 years bring even greater prosperity, peace and progress for America and take the India-US partnership to new heights,” he added.The United States marked the milestone with nationwide celebrations, parades, fireworks and commemorative events, highlighting 250 years since the adoption of the Declaration of Independence on July 4, 1776.The anniversary has been described by US officials as one of the country’s most significant national milestones. Celebrations, branded under the ‘America250’ initiative, are being held across the country throughout the year, culminating in Independence Day events that honour the nation’s founding, history and democratic institutions.India and the United States have significantly expanded cooperation over the past two decades across defence, trade, technology, energy and critical and emerging technologies. The two countries also work closely through platforms such as the Quad, alongside Japan and Australia, on issues related to regional stability and a free and open Indo-Pacific.
