Commonwealth Games 2026 Day 11 Live: India eye strong finish on final day in Glasgow

Commonwealth Games 2026 Day 11 Live: Saturday proved to be India’s defining day at the 2026 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow as the contingent produced one of its finest all-round performances in the history of the event. A record-breaking display by the boxing team, historic success in judo, milestone achievements in para sports and multiple medals in athletics propelled India to fourth place in the overall medal standings with 13 gold, 17 silver and 9 bronze medals.

The biggest contribution came from the boxing ring, where India recorded its greatest-ever Commonwealth Games campaign by winning seven gold and three silver medals to finish on top of the boxing medal table. Five women’s boxers, Jaismine Lamboria, Preeti Pawar, Priya Ghanghas, Sakshi Chaudhary and Arundhati Choudhary, claimed gold medals, while Sachin Siwach and Ankush Panghal completed the golden haul in the men’s events. Jadumani Singh, Narender Berwal and Lovlina Borgohain added silver medals to cap a dominant campaign.

India’s judokas also created history with their best-ever Commonwealth Games performance. Harsh Singh and Asmita Dey became India’s first Commonwealth judo champions, Yamini Mourya secured silver and Unnati Sharma added bronze, taking the country’s tally in the sport to a record four medals.

Para athletes continued their impressive rise on the international stage. Soman Rana won gold in the men’s F57 shot put with a season-best throw, while Shubham Juyal completed an Indian one-two by taking silver. The para contingent ended the Games with a record seven medals, including three gold, two silver and two bronze, matching India’s combined medal tally from all previous Commonwealth Games editions and ending a 20-year wait for a para athletics medal.

On the athletics track and field, Gulveer Singh became the first Indian to win a Commonwealth Games medal in the men’s 5000m and the first Indian track and field athlete to win two medals at a single edition. Praveen Chithravel and Selva Prabhu Thirumaran also delivered a memorable one-two podium finish in the men’s triple jump by winning silver and bronze respectively.
