NEW DELHI: Karnataka’s Shubhang Hegde and Bengal’s Karan Lal emerged as standout performers during Delhi Capitals’ talent trials in Bengaluru. The duo impressed with their all-round performances across the two practice games. The trials were held at the Just Cricket Academy ground in Bengaluru, with Delhi Capitals looking to identify emerging talent and add depth to their talent pool.The young cricketers’ performances caught the attention of Sourav Ganguly and Yuvraj Singh, who are set to join the franchise in leading coaching roles. While Ganguly will be named head coach, Yuvraj will be signed up as the batting coach.Both Ganguly and Yuvraj were pleased with the way Hegde and Lal performed during the trials. Their ability to make an impact with both bat and ball made them two of the players to watch during the auctions later this year.Hegde, 25, has had an excellent season in the Maharaja T20 Trophy. Playing for Bengaluru Blasters, Hegde scored 280 runs at a strike rate of 139.30 and picked up 14 wickets at an economy rate of 7.62.Vidarbha’s Aman Mokhade was another player who made a strong impression. His consistency with the bat stood out during the camp and put him among the notable performers.The camp also featured several mystery spinners, adding an element of intrigue to the talent identification process. Shivam Shukla from Madhya Pradesh and Ravikiran M from Andhra Pradesh were among the spinners who impressed during the trials.Delhi Capitals finished sixth in IPL 2026 and are looking for an overhaul for the upcoming season.
