ED director Rahul Navin's tenure extended by a year
After three years as ED director, Navin could get two more extensions and serve till Aug 2029, all through PM Modi’s tenure

NEW DELHI: Rahul Navin has been granted a one-year extension as ED director as his two-year fixed tenure was due to end this month.The tenure of Navin, a 1993-batch Indian Revenue Service (I-T) officer, as director of enforcement has been extended for a period of one year beyond “13.08.2026 i.e. up to 13.08.2027, including extension in service beyond the date of his superannuation or until further orders,” as per DoPT.After three years as ED director, he could get two more extensions and serve till August 2029, all through the PM Modi government’s tenure, with polls due in April-May 2029.Navin’s tenure as director (in-charge) began on September 15, 2023, and he was appointed as ED director on August 14, 2024, while his service retirement was due on July 31, 2027. He has set a roadmap for officers to complete probes within two years and ensure attached properties are auctioned and restituted to rightful claimants and fraud victims, including banks or individuals.
