BWF World Championships 2026 Live Updates: India’s Kapoor-Gadde knocked out after Canada win decider

BWF World Championships 2026: After a sensational opening day that saw Ayush Shetty stun world No. 1 Shi Yu Qi, India’s campaign at the BWF World Championships 2026 continues on Tuesday with six matches involving Indian shuttlers at the Indira Gandhi Indoor Stadium.

Paris Olympics semifinalist Lakshya Sen will be one of the biggest attractions on Day 2 as he begins his men’s singles campaign against Austria’s Collins Valentine Filimon. Young Indian shuttler Unnati Hooda will also make her World Championships debut when she takes on Myanmar’s Thet Htar Thuzar in the women’s singles first round.

Lakshya Sen begins campaign

Lakshya, who has previously won a World Championships bronze, will look to make a strong start to his campaign on home soil. The Indian will face Filimon in the evening session, with the match scheduled for 6:10 PM IST on Court 1. The home crowd will be hoping Lakshya can build on the momentum created by Ayush Shetty’s stunning victory over defending champion Shi Yu Qi on Monday.

Unnati Hooda in action

Earlier in the day, Unnati Hooda will begin her women’s singles campaign against Thet Htar Thuzar. The match is scheduled for 12:20 PM IST on Court 1 and will be a significant test for the young Indian, who will be looking to make an impression on her World Championships debut.

Treesa-Gayatri among doubles stars

India’s women’s doubles pair Treesa Jolly and Gayatri Gopichand will also be in action. The Indian duo faces USA’s Lauren Lam and Allison Lee in the Round of 32 at 5:20 PM IST. The pair will be among India’s key hopes in the doubles draw and will look to progress further in front of the home crowd.
