What began as a routine IPL clash between Lucknow Super Giants and Delhi Capitals quickly turned into a social media face-off, with both franchises engaging in a subtle but sharp exchange that caught fans’ attention. The moment that triggered it all came early in the chase. KL Rahul, now representing Delhi Capitals after leading LSG in previous seasons, was dismissed for a golden duck by Mohammed Shami on the very first ball of the innings. It was a dramatic start, and LSG’s social media team did not miss the chance. Soon after Rahul’s dismissal, LSG posted a picture of an empty staircase leading back to the dressing room. The post appeared to be a clear jibe. Earlier, Delhi Capitals had shared visuals of Rahul’s arrival at the Ekana Stadium, where he was seen slowly walking down the same staircase towards the ground. The contrast was obvious, and the intent was hard to miss.

But the online exchange did not end there. After sealing a comfortable six-wicket win, Delhi Capitals responded in style. Quoting LSG’s post, DC highlighted their recent dominance in the rivalry, pointing out that they had won both encounters in 2024, 2025 and had now extended that streak with another victory in 2026.

On the field, DC’s performance backed up their social media confidence. Despite being reduced to 26 for 4 in the chase of 142, Sameer Rizvi produced a composed unbeaten 70, stitching together a match-winning 119-run stand with Tristan Stubbs. Their partnership took the game away from LSG, who had earlier struggled to put up a competitive total. LSG’s batting never found rhythm, folding for 141 after a series of questionable decisions and poor execution. The bowling unit, despite early breakthroughs, could not contain Rizvi once he settled in. In the end, it was not just a defeat for LSG on the field but also a loss in the battle of banter. Delhi Capitals walked away with the points and the final word, turning a cheeky troll into a statement of dominance.
