'3 glasses of wine and...': Details of David Warner's drunk driving arrest revealed

Former Australia opener David Warner has landed in serious trouble after being charged with drink driving following an incident in Maroubra, Sydney, on Tuesday. The details of his arrest has been released for which he was charged on highway. According to reports, Warner was pulled over by New South Wales Police during a routine random breath test. The test allegedly revealed that he had exceeded the legal alcohol limit, with a reported blood alcohol reading of 0.104, more than double the permissible limit in Australia. Police stated that Warner returned a positive result during roadside testing and was subsequently arrested. He was then taken to Maroubra Police Station for further examination. As Daily Mail reports, the former cricketer told officers he had consumed three glasses of wine at a friend’s house before attempting to drive back to his residence in Maroubra. Following the results of the test, Warner was formally charged, with the case now set to proceed under Australian law. He has been directed to appear in court next month.“About 5:30pm today (Sunday 5 April 2026), police were conducting stationary random breath testing on Malabar Road, Maroubra,” the police statement read. “A van was seen to allegedly stop short of the testing site and park. Officers attached to Traffic and Highway Patrol Command approached the vehicle and subjected the driver – a 39-year-old man – to roadside testing which returned a positive result.”“He was arrested and taken to Maroubra Police Station where a second test allegedly returned a reading of 0.104.“The man was issued with a Field Court Attendance Notice for drive with middle-range PCA to appear before the Downing Centre Local Court on Thursday 7 May 2026.”However, the legal proceedings will not hamper Warner’s travel to participate in the PSL 2026. If found guilty, Warner’s alleged drink-driving incident could endanger his professional partnerships. Cricket NSW and Transport for NSW have maintained a 23-year partnership, which culminated in the Road Safety Cup.The left-handed batter was on a personal trip to Sydney, using a seven-day gap ahead of Kings’ next match against Peshawar Zalmi on April 9. Karachi Kings, led by Warner this season, are currently second in the PSL table with six points three matches, behind leaders Multan Sultans who have eight points from five matches.Warner has played 3 matches for Karachi Kings and made 93 runs with scoring 50 in their last game in Lahore on April 2.Warner last featured internationally against India in the Super 8 stage of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2024.This came after his retirement from Test cricket in January 2024 and from ODIs immediately following the 2023 ICC Men’s ODI World Cup.
