IPL 2026: ‘PSL things in IPL!’ Social media erupts after Rishabh Pant’s costly error

In a match where Lucknow Super Giants largely controlled proceedings with the ball, a moment of chaos in the field involving Rishabh Pant stood out as a costly lapse. The incident came during Mayank Yadav’s over when Ravindra Jadeja tucked a slower delivery through square leg and called for a quick single. What followed was a complete mix-up. Jadeja pushed for a second run before abruptly sending his partner Donovan Ferreira back, leaving him stranded halfway down the pitch. It should have been a straightforward run-out. Nicholas Pooran’s throw, however, was off target, forcing Pant to move towards the ball. The LSG skipper did manage to dislodge the stumps initially, but in the confusion that followed, he lost control. Pant stumbled while collecting the ball cleanly and fumbled the follow-up attempt, allowing Ferreira just enough time to recover and dive back into his crease.

At one point, the batter was nowhere near the crease and not even in the frame, yet Rajasthan survived the scare due to the chaos in the field. It was a missed opportunity that could have changed the course of the innings. The moment quickly went viral, with fans flooding social media with reactions. One fan summed up the disbelief, writing: “Rishabh Pant 1st dislodged the stumps, the batter was not even in the frame but still they didn’t make him run out. PSL things in IPL”.The lapse stood out even more because it came in the middle of an otherwise disciplined bowling effort from Lucknow, who had earlier restricted Rajasthan Royals to 159 for 6.While Pant had earlier impressed with his glovework, including sharp catches, this moment of miscommunication and execution error turned into one of the most talked-about incidents of the match — a reminder of how quickly things can slip in T20 cricket.
