Priyanka Gandhi: Iran leader's killing 'despicable'
Priyanka Gandhi Vadra said that the assassination of Iran’s supreme leader by the “so called leaders of the democratic world” is “despicable”.

NEW DELHI: Congress MP Priyanka Gandhi Vadra on Sunday said the targetted assassination of the leadership of a sovereign nation is “despicable” and deserves “strong condemnation. She alleged “the so-called leaders of the democratic world” were the orchestrators of the murder of the supreme leader of Iran Ali Khamenei. The Congress MP also accused Indian PM Narendra Modi of “genuflecting before the Israel PM and US President”.Congress termed the Modi govt’s response to the war on Iran and its silence on Khamenei killing as a “betrayal of India’s values, principles and interests”, She also added that the country was paying a hefty price for the substance and style of PM Narendra Modi’s foreign policy.Congress MP Priyanka termed it “tragic” that multiple nations have been dragged into the conflict. “The world needs peace, not more unnecessary wars,” she said, recalling Mahatma Gandhi’s words that “an eye for an eye makes the whole world blind”. Congress spokesman Jairam Ramesh said Modi visited Israel on Feb 25-26 when the world knew that US-Israel were set to attack Iran, and his speech in Knesset was a “display of shameful moral cowardice”.Terming what he called Modi’s failures, Ramesh said Trump is continuing his “romance” with Pakistan by applauding field marshal General Asim Munir whose inflammatory remarks provided the backdrop to the Pahalgam terror attack, and has over 100 times said that he halted Operation Sindoor. Also, he said the US is supporting Pakistan’s war on Afghanistan.
