Census effect: Cities will see ‘less crime’ next year



Crime rates in Indian cities are set to show a decline in 2027 due to a mathematical glitch in National Crime Records Bureau (NCRB) calculations. NCRB uses outdated Census population figures as denominators, causing crime rates to appear inflated until the next Census updates these numbers, leading to dramatic drops.
