Pakistan 301/5 in 78.2 Overs | BAN vs PAK Live Score, 1st Test Day 3: Bangladesh strike back hard with four Pakistan wickets in opening session

BAN vs PAK Live Score: Azan Awais marked his Test debut with a magnificent century, but Bangladesh fought back strongly to reduce Pakistan to 251/5 at Lunch on Day 3 of the opening Test on Sunday.

Azan produced a composed knock of 103 off 165 deliveries, striking 14 boundaries in a memorable maiden Test innings. Resuming the day on an unbeaten score, the young opener looked fluent from the outset and reached his century in style by guiding Nahid Rana for a single to point, bringing up the landmark off 153 balls. In doing so, he became the 15th Pakistan batter to score a century on Test debut.

However, Bangladesh clawed their way back into the contest through the efforts of Taskin Ahmed and Mehidy Hasan Miraz. Taskin ended Azan’s superb innings and, in the process, reached the milestone of 50 Test wickets. He became only the third Bangladeshi pacer after Mashrafe Mortaza and Shahadat Hossain to achieve the feat.

The Bangladesh pacer then dismissed Pakistan captain Shan Masood soon after, sparking a mini collapse that saw Pakistan lose three wickets for just four runs.

Mehidy Hasan Miraz further tightened Bangladesh’s grip with two crucial wickets, including fellow debutant Abdullah Fazal, who impressed with a solid 60. Mehidy finished the session with figures of 3/61.

At the lunch break, Salman Agha was unbeaten on 12 alongside Mohammad Rizwan on 8, with Pakistan still trailing Bangladesh’s first-innings total of 413.

Earlier in the match, Bangladesh had posted 413 in their first innings, powered by a brilliant 101 from captain Najmul Hossain Shanto and a valuable 91 from Mominul Haque.
