Omar Abdullah meets Amit Shah, discusses J&K’s statehood

SRINAGAR: Union home minister Amit Shah Monday met Jammu and Kashmir chief minister Omar Abdullah in New Delhi and discussed, among other things, “the restoration of statehood”.A govt spokesperson said, the meeting “deliberated on the prevailing security and economic situation in J&K, with emphasis on ensuring sustained peace, stability and inclusive growth for people.He said, “Transaction of business rules, rationalisation of reservation, and other key governance and public welfare issues related to Jammu and Kashmir” were discussed.Abdullah stressed the importance of addressing governance-related concerns and accelerating developmental and welfare initiatives. “He also highlighted the need for continued coordination between the Centre and the J&K govt on issues of public importance,” he said, adding that the discussions were held in a cordial atmosphere.
