Tamil Nadu wants a government for every family, not for just one family, says PM Modi

TRICHY: Prime Minister Narendra Modi Wednesday positioned NDA as a credible alternative to Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam in Tamil Nadu and called upon the people to support the alliance to bring transparent governance and faster development to the state.Speaking at the NDA rally in Trichy, Modi said the upcoming election was the most important election in Tamil Nadu’s history. “The choice before the people is clear. One path leads to dynasty politics and corruption. The other path leads to development, opportunity and honest governance,” he said.Modi said “the desire for change is gaining huge momentum. The whole state has made up its mind to throw out DMK govt. People want a govt for every family, not for just one family, and they know only NDA can bring that change.”He said infrastructure funds given to Tamil Nadu had tripled in the last decade. The NDA govt has spent nearly Rs 57,000 crore on highways, which is four times more than the Congress-DMK govt. “Nearly Rs 8,000 crores has been invested in building rural roads,” Modi said.Farmers of the delta are the backbone of Tamil Nadu’s food security but DMK has failed to deliver on its promises, he said. “They deserved fair prices, good facilities and modern storage infrastructure. DMK also promised a big increase in MSP for paddy but failed to fulfil these promises,” he said. He alleged that illegal sand mining was destroying rivers and threatening the environment. “Yet those responsible for this continue to enjoy DMK’s protection,” he claimed. The rally was attended by leaders of the alliance parties, including AIADMK general secretary Eddapadi K Palanisami, PMK’s Anbumani Ramadoss, AMMK’s TTV Dhinakaran and TMC leader G K Vasan. This is the third time Modi has visited the state this year and the second this month.EPS attacked CM M K Stalin for criticising AIADMK’s alliance with BJP. “It’s their alliance which is in tatters. DMK has become a slave of Congress and managed to retain the alliance only by begging Congress,” he claimed.Earlier, at a govt event, the PM inaugurated and laid foundation stones for projects worth Rs 5,600 crore.
