2 FIRs against BJP's Kolkata Port candidate after clash with TMC workers

KOLKATA: Two FIRs were registered against BJP’s Kolkata Port candidate, Rakesh Singh, following a skirmish with TMC workers on Monday night. A fortnight ago, Calcutta HC released him on interim bail in the Vidyasagar statue vandalism case. The unrest began on Monday when a BJP meet was allegedly disrupted by TMC. Singh organised a sit-in outside Ekbalpore police station to protest police inaction. TMC supporters arrived and the two groups clashed. Singh was reportedly assaulted, necessitating his hospitalisation.
