'Swadeshi' bullet train from next year
Railway minister Ashwini Vaishnaw inaugurating ‘Adiitya’

From imported technology to home-grown design, India’s “swadeshi” bullet train push is shifting gears – towards speed, scale and self-reliance. The high-speed train is on track for April 2027 debut. The Mumbai-Ahmedabad corridor will be the first to run it.

First ‘swadeshi’ bullet train to roll out on Mum-Ahd route by April ’27

Railway minister Ashwini Vaishnaw inaugurated Saturday “Aditya”, a dedicated high-speed rail manufacturing complex at BEML Limited’s Tippasandra campus in Bengaluru. The facility is built to produce B-28 trainsets, backbone of India’s indigenous high-speed programme.
