Preity Zinta reveals big reason why PBKS no longer use silver colour in IPL jersey: 'Got banned by ...'

IPL franchise Punjab Kings’ co-owner Preity Zinta on Monday revealed that why her team no longer has the silver colour in their jersey.“Punjab should try to bring back its Red and silver jersey. Still remember Gilchrist taking his only wicket in that. Best jersey hands down,” a fan wrote on X, while replying to a post by Zinta.

Responding to the comment, the Punjab Kings (PBKS) owner revealed that the last year’s runner-up moved away from the silver due to BCCI directive. Preity Zinta confirmed that the BCCI no longer permits teams to use white, grey or silver in their playing kits.“Silver got banned by the BCCI cuz teams complained they could not see the white ball against the silver ! I miss the silver too,” Zinta said.Punjab Kings, who used to look stylish in red-and-grey, switched to a red-and-blue in their campaigns, combining a red shirt with blue bottoms.In IPL 2026, PBKS are unbeaten so far and with 6 wins and one washed out match in seven games, they are currently at top of the points table with 13 points.Punjab Kings will aim to strengthen their hold at the top of the standings when they take on Rajasthan Royals at the Maharaja Yadavindra Singh International Cricket Stadium on Tuesday.On the other hand, RR are at number four with 10 points after five wins in eight games.Riyan Parag, a captain short of runs, will need to lead from the front to challenge a peerless Punjab Kings.In the Shreyas Iyer-Ricky Ponting era that began last year, Punjab Kings have scripted a sensational turnaround, making them the most consistent and assuring unit in the competition, attributes they longed for ages.
