MUMBAI: Mumbai and Chennai Super Kings batter Ayush Mhatre is likely to be out of action for the next couple of months due to a hamstring injury as well as a wrist injury, TOI has learnt.“Ayush not only has a left hamstring injury, but has also been diagnosed with a wrist injury. He is now likely to be out of action for a couple of months,” a source tracking developments told TOI on Monday. This means Mhatre will not be able to participate in the upcoming edition of the T20 Mumbai League, scheduled to be played in June. The teenage batter was retained by Triumph Knights along with India’s T20 captain Suryakumar Yadav.Mhatre had earlier been ruled out of IPL 2026 due to a left hamstring injury. The 18-year-old suffered the injury while batting during CSK’s match against Sunrisers Hyderabad on April 18.“Ayush’s injury will require a rehabilitation period of 6-12 weeks. We wish Ayush a speedy recovery,” CSK had posted on social media.“It looks pretty bad, unfortunately. He’s going to be a big, big loss because he’s been in really nice touch for us,” CSK batting coach Mike Hussey had said about Mhatre’s hamstring injury.Mhatre scored 201 runs in six innings at a strike rate of 177.87 in IPL 2026 before the injury forced him to the sidelines.
