NEW DELHI: Kolkata Knight Riders’ co-owner Shah Rukh Khan lit up social media with a heartfelt tribute to Sunil Narine after the veteran spinner scripted history in the IPL, reaching the coveted 200-wicket mark in style.Narine became only the third bowler in IPL history to achieve the milestone during KKR’s clash against Sunrisers Hyderabad at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium. But what made the feat even more special was that he became the first player ever to reach 200 wickets for a single franchise, underlining his loyalty and consistency since debuting in 2012.Soon after the landmark, Shah Rukh took to X and shared a picture with Narine, writing: “Sunil, my friend… here’s to 15 seasons… over 200 wickets… 3 titles and many more with the @KKRiders franchise around the globe!!! You are a magician and we love you like our own family. Big hug for today and always… Be healthy and keep smiling!”The emotional message quickly went viral, with fans celebrating not just Narine’s achievement but also the deep bond he shares with the franchise.Narine’s milestone underlines unmatched consistencyThe West Indian all-rounder finished with figures of 2/31 in the match, including the crucial wicket of Ishan Kishan, as KKR bowled out SRH for 165 in 19 overs. In doing so, Narine also became the first overseas bowler to enter the 200-wicket club.Adding another feather to his cap, Narine now holds the best economy rate among bowlers who have delivered at least 1800 balls in IPL history, boasting an impressive 6.79. He edges past greats like Dale Steyn (6.91), Harbhajan Singh (7.07), Lasith Malinga (7.14) and Rashid Khan (7.15).From being the MVP in 2012 and 2018 to playing key roles in KKR’s title wins in 2012, 2014 and 2024, Narine’s journey has been defined by impact and longevity.
