‘It was truly heartbreaking’: Rashid Khan, Mohammad Nabi visit hospitalised Shapoor Zadran in emotional reunion

NEW DELHI: Rashid Khan and Mohammad Nabi paid an emotional visit to former Afghanistan pacer Shapoor Zadran in a hospital in Greater Noida, where the 38-year-old is undergoing treatment for a rare and life-threatening condition.Zadran has been battling Hemophagocytic Lymphohistiocytosis (HLH), a severe immune system disorder that can trigger dangerous inflammation and damage multiple organs. He has reportedly been receiving treatment in the Delhi-NCR region for the past few months.

Nabi shares heartbreaking updateAfter meeting his former teammate on Wednesday, Nabi shared an emotional message on social media, saying it was difficult to see the once-fearless fast bowler in hospital care.“Today in Greater Noida, India, along with Rashid Khan, we met our dear brother Shapoor Jaan. Seeing the same tall, passionate and strong-hearted Shapoor, whom we have always admired fighting bravely on the cricket field, lying on a hospital bed was truly heartbreaking,” Nabi wrote.He also shared photographs from the intensive care unit and prayed for Zadran’s recovery, hoping he would soon return to his family and supporters.“May Allah Almighty grant him complete and speedy recovery through His endless mercy and blessings and may he soon return healthy, smiling and reunited with his beloved family, friends and supporters. Ameen,” he added.Zadran had initially shown signs of improvement and was discharged from hospital earlier during treatment, but suffered a relapse around 20 days later, according to reports.A left-arm pacer known for his aggressive spells, Zadran represented Afghanistan national cricket team from 2009 to 2020. He played 44 ODIs and 36 T20Is, featuring during the team’s rise on the international stage.
