NEW DELHI: Lucknow Super Giants, already eliminated from playoff contention, dented Chennai Super Kings’ chances of progressing further in IPL 2026 with a commanding win at Ekana Cricket Stadium on Friday. After restricting CSK to 187/5, with Akash Singh claiming 3 for 26 in his first game of the season, LSG chased down the target with 20 balls to spare to register a seven-wicket win, their fourth victory in 12 games. The win took their points tally to 8, but they remained stranded at the bottom of the 10-team standings. The defeat was a significant one for CSK, who are still hanging on in the playoff race. CSK dropped a spot to sixth after the loss as their net run rate (NRR) is now inferior to Rajasthan Royals, who also have a game in hand. CSK have 12 points from 12 games, while RR have 12 from 11.With 11 games left in the league stage, the IPL 2026 standings are led by defending champions Royal Challengers Bengaluru with 16 points, ahead of Gujarat Titans on superior NRR.Sunrisers Hyderabad and Punjab Kings are in third and fourth spots with 14 and 13 points respectively.Behind CSK and still in the playoff race are Delhi Capitals (10 points) and Kolkata Knight Riders (9 points).Mumbai Indians and LSG are the only two sides already eliminated from contention.
