Nordic leaders condemn Pahalgam attack

In a joint statement on Tuesday, PM Narendra Modi and Nordic leaders expressed concern over the Ukraine war, saying it continued to cause immense human suffering and have global consequences. “They will continue to support efforts towards the achievement of a comprehensive, just and lasting peace through dialogue and diplomacy, based on the principles of the UN charter and of international law,” said the statement. The leaders also expressed deep concern over the situation in West Asia and its global ramifications and welcomed the ceasefire announced on April 8. “They also called for freedom of navigation and global flow of commerce through Strait of Hormuz, consistent with the provisions of UNCLOS,” it said. On Palestine, the leaders called on all parties to respect the ceasefire and uphold their obligations under international law. They emphasised the need for safe, sustained and unhindered humanitarian assistance throughout Gaza. The leaders condemned terrorism and extremism in all its forms. “They condemned in the strongest terms the terrorist attack in Pahalgam, J&K, on 22 April, 2025, and the terror incident near Red Fort, New Delhi on Nov 10, 2025,” said the statement. tnn
