BJP’s ‘Nabin’ team to take charge of party organisation soon

NEW DELHI: An overhaul of BJP’s organisational teams, including in its apex body, the parliamentary board, is on the cards, with party sources saying a new team of office-bearers can be announced after June 15.As organisational teams are customarily rejigged after a new president is elected, the expected changes are being talked about since Nitin Nabin took the helm in Jan.As BJP plans a mega NDA meet on Wednesday, a source said, “The new office-bearers will be announced in about a week.”With Nabin being the youngest BJP president at 45 and the party brass emphasising the need for the party to be more representative and youthful, the new set of office-bearers is likely to highlight a blend of youth and experience with an eye on key political blocs like OBC and Dalits.Nabin has been touring states extensively, gathering feedback from party units and laying down his priorities, an exercise expected to feed into the choices the BJP brass makes in the overall changes. The expected organisational changes have accompanied a buzz of a reshuffle in the council of ministers by PM Narendra Modi as he completes two years in office in his third term. With two Union ministers — Pankaj Chaudhary and Harsh Malhotra — sent to head state party units in UP and Delhi, respectively, and two others — George Kurian and Ravneet Singh Bittu — not renominated for Rajya Sabha, the talk of changes in govt has gained currency.
