Anvay Dravid, son of legendary Rahul Dravid, named in India U-19 squad for Sri Lanka tour

NEW DELHI: Anvay Dravid, the younger son of former India captain and head coach Rahul Dravid, was selected in the India Under-19 squad for the upcoming tour of Sri Lanka on Thursday.The BCCI’s Junior Cricket Committee, headed by S Sharath, announced the squads on Thursday for the tour, which will consist of three one-day matches and two multi-day games beginning on July 4. Anvay has been named as one of the wicketkeepers in the one-day squad alongside Rajat Baghel. For the multi-day matches, the selectors have opted for Manav Krishna and Aryan Sandesh Sakpal as wicketkeeping options.The Karnataka youngster has been steadily making his mark in age-group cricket. During last year’s Vinoo Mankad Trophy, he led Karnataka to the quarterfinals and impressed with the bat. He scored 220 runs in six matches, including an unbeaten 82 and another half-century during the tournament.The tour will be led by Yashbardhan Singh Chauhan, who has been appointed captain of both the one-day and multi-day teams. Lakshya Raichandani will serve as vice-captain across both formats.Anvay’s selection continues the Dravid family’s growing presence in India’s junior setup.
