KOLKATA: If Vaibhav comes, can Ashirvad be far behind?Following in the footsteps of his elder brother Vaibhav Sooryavanshi, Ashirvad, all of 10, scored a century in a local practice match in Samastipur on Friday.Among the first to congratulate him was Vaibhav himself. The teenager, currently in Sri Lanka with the India A side for a tri-nation series involving Sri Lanka A and Afghanistan A, shared the match scorecard on his Instagram story and wrote: “Congratulations, Ashirvad.”

.

Ashirvad scored 103 off 87 balls, hitting 20 fours and a six at a strike rate of 118.39. Riding on his ‘maiden ton’, as stated by eldest brother Ujjwal in a social media post, Cricket Academy Tajpur raced to 234 for 4 in 29.5 overs. Teammate Shivam Raj chipped in with 52 off 75 balls. After reaching the three-figure mark with a helicopter shot for a maximum, Ashirvad celebrated by taking off his helmet — images and videos that have caught netizens’ attention. His breezy innings ended when Ayush Singh took a catch off Prashant Raj’s bowling. An all-rounder in the making, Ashirvad also picked up four wickets in six overs with his medium pace to cap a fine outing.Word of the right-hander’s knock first surfaced on social media when Ujjwal posted a photo, video and scorecard of the innings on his Instagram story, adding a heart emoji.Proud father Sanjeev, too, expressed his joy on social media. In a Facebook post, he wrote: “My younger son Ashirvad Sooryavanshi scored his first century in a practice match today. I request all of you to continue showering your love and blessings on him.”In an earlier interaction before the 2026 IPL, Sanjeev had told TOI that with Vaibhav beginning to establish himself at the top level, he would focus more on grooming his youngest son into a fine all-rounder. It seems Sooryavanshi senior is already walking the talk.
