Indian teenage sensation Vaibhav Sooryavanshi has etched his name into the record books by registering the fastest fifty in List A cricket history during the Tri-Nation Series final between India A and Sri Lanka A at the Rangiri Dambulla International Stadium. The 15-year-old opener unleashed a breathtaking assault on the Sri Lankan bowlers after Sri Lanka A elected to field first, racing to his half-century in just 11 deliveries. In doing so, Sooryavanshi shattered the previous world record of a 12-ball fifty, set by Sri Lanka’s Kaushalya Weeraratne in 2005.The historic moment came when Sooryavanshi launched left-arm seamer Dulaj Samuditha straight down the ground for his fifth six of the innings, bringing up a remarkable fifty and rewriting the List A record books.Vaibhav Sooryavanshi’s breathtaking innings came to an end on 94 off just 29 balls. Sooryavanshi looked set for a historic hundred before Sri Lanka A captain Sahan Arachchige struck a crucial blow. Attempting to clear mid-off, the young opener miscued a full delivery and was caught by Vijayakanth Viyaskanth. His sensational knock included 10 fours and 8 sixes, leaving the crowd applauding as he walked back after a remarkable innings that put India A firmly on top.
