SEYCHELLES: Prime Minister Narendra Modi stood up in a mark of respect as the Indian Army and Navy contingents marched during Seychelles’ 50th Independence Day celebrations, highlighting India’s close ties with the island nation during his three-day official visit.The Prime Minister arrived in Seychelles on Saturday to begin his three-day diplomatic itinerary.The Indian contingent, comprising personnel from the Assam Regiment of the Indian Army and sailors from the Indian Navy, participated in the grand Golden Jubilee parade held in the capital.One of the standout moments of the parade was the Army contingent performing its iconic regimental song, ‘Badlu Ram Ka Badan’, while marching. India’s military presence also included the frontline stealth frigate INS Tarkash and the indigenously built Survey Vessel Large INS Ikshak, underscoring the strong defence partnership between the two countries.In a social media update on X on Sunday, the Indian Navy stated, “During the port call, Tarkash, along with INS Ikshak, will participate in Golden Jubilee celebrations of the National Day of Seychelles, on June 29, with a marching contingent and naval band, India Seychelles BridgesofFriendship MAHASAGAR MaritimeCooperation.”‘Another reflection of the enduring friendship’Following the event, PM Modi shared photographs from the National Day celebrations on X and thanked Seychelles President Patrick Herminie for the warm hospitality.“Contingents from the Assam Regiment and the Indian Navy took part in the National Day celebrations of Seychelles yesterday. It was yet another reflection of the enduring friendship between India and Seychelles,” he wrote.
