Abhishek Sharma left frustrated after mix-up with Ishan Kishan

India suffered an early setback in the first T20I against England after Ishan Kishan was run out following a major mix-up with opening partner Abhishek Sharma. The dismissal came just two balls into Kishan’s innings, adding to his misery after he was also run out in India’s previous T20I against Ireland. Chasing a quick single, Kishan set off after nudging the ball towards midwicket, but Abhishek, after seeing Harry Brook intercept the ball, decided against the run. The decision was referred to the third umpire, and while the replay was being checked, Abhishek’s frustration was clearly visible. During their brief exchange, Abhishek was heard asking Kishan, “Tu pahuncha ki nahin pahuncha, kya kar raha hai yaar Ishan? (Did you make it or not? What are you doing, yaar, Ishan?)” Watch:Kishan’s desperate dive back to the crease was not enough as England completed the run-out, leaving India struggling after losing both Sanju Samson and Kishan inside the first two overs.Despite the early confusion, Abhishek Sharma bounced back brilliantly, smashing 59 runs off just 24 balls, including six fours and four sixes. He shared an important 82-run partnership with captain Shreyas Iyer, who anchored the innings with a 68 off 47 deliveries. Abhishek also became the fastest player in T20I history to complete 100 sixes in terms of balls faced.A late unbeaten 42 off 21 balls from Shivam Dube helped India post a competitive total of 189/7 in 20 overs, while England pacer Saqib Mahmood impressed with figures of 3/33.

However, persistent rain, which began towards the end of India’s innings, prevented England from starting their chase. With conditions failing to improve, the match was eventually abandoned, and the teams will now head to Manchester for the second T20I on July 4.
