NEW DELHI: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday congratulated Andy Burnham on assuming office as UK PM and expressed confidence that India-UK ties would continue to deepen across key sectors.In a post on X, PM Modi said, “Warmest congratulations to Mr Andy Burnham on assuming office as Prime Minister of the United Kingdom.”Highlighting the strong bilateral relationship, the Prime Minister said, “India and the UK are bound by shared democratic values and enjoy wide-ranging cooperation across trade, investment, technology, defence and people-to-people relations. With CETA entering into force this month, our bilateral partnership is poised to grow even stronger.”Prime Minister Modi also said he looked forward to working closely with Burnham to strengthen the India-UK Comprehensive Strategic Partnership.“I look forward to working closely with you to further deepen the India-UK Comprehensive Strategic Partnership and advance our shared Vision 2035,” he added.The UK entered another chapter of political change as the Labour Party replaced Keir Starmer following an internal leadership contest that ended his tenure as prime minister.Andy Burnham becomes the seventh person to serve as UK prime minister in just 10 years, specifying the country’s prolonged period of political churn.
