Several pilgrims injured as Amarnath Yatra bus skids off road in J&K's Ganderbal

At least 39 pilgrims undertaking the annual Amarnath Yatra were injured after a speeding bus skidded off the road in the Kangan area of Jammu and Kashmir’s Ganderbal district on Tuesday, officials said, as cited by news agency PTI.“Spoke with Deputy Commissioner, Ganderbal and health officials and inquired about the health condition of Shri Amarnathji Yatra pilgrims injured in the unfortunate road accident earlier this morning at Ganiwan, Ganderbal. 39 pilgrims returning after Darshan of Baba Barfani sustained injuries and are currently undergoing treatment at SKIMS. I have directed the health officials to ensure all necessary assistance and the best possible medical care,” J&K lieutenant general Manoj Sinha said in a post on X. The bus plunged onto a house in Hariganwan after the driver reportedly lost control while negotiating a sharp curve. The impact severely damaged the house but prevented the vehicle from rolling into the Sindh River. Officials said no one was inside the house at the time of the accident.Most of the pilgrims on board sustained minor injuries and were rescued by local residents and security personnel before being shifted to a nearby hospital for treatment, officials added.This is a developing story
