Commonwealth Games 2026 Day 10 Live: Record 10 Indian boxers chase gold in Glasgow

Commonwealth Games 2026 Day 10 Live: India enjoyed a memorable day at the 2026 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow, with medals, historic achievements and a clean sweep in the boxing semi-finals highlighting another successful outing for the contingent.

Leading the charge was Neeraj Chopra, who returned to the Commonwealth Games podium with a silver medal in the men’s javelin throw. Fellow Indian Yash Vir Singh also impressed by winning bronze, while Tejaswin Shankar showcased remarkable resilience to clinch bronze in the decathlon after battling injury concerns earlier in the competition.

Indian judokas delivered one of the standout performances of the day. Asmita Dey scripted history by becoming India’s first Commonwealth Games judo gold medallist after defeating Canada’s Heidi Quach in the women’s 48kg final. Harsh Singh added another gold in the men’s 60kg category with victory over Australia’s Joshua Katz, while Yamini Maurya contributed a silver medal in the women’s 57kg division.

The boxing contingent ensured India remained firmly in contention for a rich medal haul. Every Indian boxer who entered the semi-finals progressed to the gold medal bout, guaranteeing at least 10 silver medals. Narender Berwal, Sachin Siwach, Lovlina Borgohain, Priya Ghanghas, Sakshi Choudhary, Jadumani Singh, Arundhati Choudhary, Jaismine Lamboria, Ankush Panghal and Preeti Pawar all registered convincing victories to book places in their respective finals.

There was more positive news in athletics as India’s mixed 4x400m relay team qualified for the final, keeping alive hopes of another podium finish.

Not every event produced success, however. Shraddha Kopade and Rohit Majgul bowed out in the judo repechage rounds, while cyclists Dinesh Kumar, Harshveer Singh, Ronaldo Singh, David Beckham and Jemsh Singh were eliminated from their respective events. In lawn bowls, Dinesh Kumar and Navneet Singh, along with Nayanmoni Saikia, recorded victories in the sectional stage, while Yashas Palaksha and Santhosh Kumar Thamilarasan finished seventh and eighth respectively in the men’s 400m hurdles. With boxing finals and several medal events still to come, India remained on course for an even stronger finish in Glasgow.
