NEW DELHI: Trinamool Congress MP Mahua Moitra has approached the Supreme Court alleging that the Nadia district administration in West Bengal evicted her from her official constituency accommodation at the Circuit House in violation of court orders.The matter was mentioned before Chief Justice of India Surya Kant and Justices Joymalya Bagchi and V Mohana, seeking urgent listing of Moitra’s plea.Moitra told the Supreme Court that local officials evicted her from her constituency accommodation in the middle of the night despite a protective order issued by the High Court, as cited by Bar and Bench.“May I mention an Article 32 petition by a sitting lady Member of Parliament who was evicted from her constituency accommodation by local officials, the Additional District Magistrate and the District Magistrate, in the dead of the night at 11 pm. This requires, in our respectful submission, some comprehensive directions because it involves issues of federalism. It also requires an independent investigation. This has happened despite the High Court already having passed a protective order. I am only praying for listing on an early date because this involves an important constitutional issue,” the counsel for Moitra said, as cited by Bar and Bench.“We will see,” the CJI replied.Earlier this month, Trinamool Congress MP Mahua Moitra alleged that the local administration asked her to vacate her room at a circuit house in Nadia late at night.Moitra said she arrived at the Circuit House at 6.30 pm and was allotted the room where she usually stays. “Dinner was served to me in room at 9.20 pm. I received call at 9.47 asking me to vacate. Now at 10.52 I receive this message with this ‘order’ !! Outside the gates are huge crowd shouting Jai Shree Ram!” she posted on X.

She also appealed to Opposition MPs and leaders, saying, “All Opposition MPs & Leaders – I am staying night in my district HQ at circuit house which official accommodation for MP . Received call at 9:47 pm from administration asking that I should vacate my room. They are that desperate to keep us out of area !”
