Terrorist handler arrested in J&K’s Kishtwar
Naik was functioning as the main handler of the Saifullah group in Chatroo, said the police

JAMMU: J&K Police late Tuesday arrested Mohammed Rafiq Naik, a key facilitator accused of providing logistical and operational support to foreign terrorists operating in Chatroo area in Kishtwar district.“Naik was functioning as the main handler of the Saifullah group in Chatroo area and allegedly provided active assistance to a group of foreign terrorists operating in the region,” SSP Kishtwar Naresh Singh said, adding that efforts were underway to unearth the full extent of his role in the network and trace his links with the foreign terrorist outfit. The arrest, which police termed a major success in the ongoing crackdown against terrorism, came during investigations into an FIR registered at Chatroo PS under relevant sections of the BNS, UAPA and Arms Act. Sustained probe and targeted operations led cops to Naik, a resident of Dwather in Singhpur, for his alleged role in facilitating terrorist activities, SSP Singh said. “Investigation is continuing to identify and dismantle the entire support network,” he added.Earlier, on June 19, Kishtwar Police dismantled a terror support network by arresting two overground workers, including a forest department employee, who allegedly provided support to local terrorists in Dachan and facilitated their subversive acts. On May 13, Kishtwar Police arrested a teacher in the school education department for providing aid to foreign terrorists at a hideout in Singhpora, Chatroo.
