Reaction teams to flag 'fake info' on E20 blending

NEW DELHI: Learning from the recent student protests led by CJP, govt has set up a team of officials from multiple ministries to counter online “misinformation” on E20 fuel through coordinated efforts by different stakeholders, including vehicle manufacturers, dealers, vehicle testing agencies, oil marketing companies and fuel pump dealers. Ministries concerned are also setting up Quick Response Teams (QRTs) to flag fake content.TOI has learnt that the team of officials from different ministries, including I&B, road transport, heavy industries and petroleum, is working together to deal with both proliferation of wrong information and also to put across the details that are backed by scientific and research-based reports. It’s focusing both on the young generation who are more active on different social media platforms and the targeted age groups who own vehicles as well.People aware of the development said this was one such rare occasion when there is a “coordinated and concerted effort” by different departments to put forward govt’s views backed by facts and scientific proof rather than individual departments fighting their own battle. They added, besides countering claims and allegations, testimonies of users and assurances of both vehicle manufacturers and oil marketing companies are also being put on social media platforms for online viewers.
