'7,000 Indian flown home in 3 days; more flights over 48 hours'

NEW DELHI: Nearly 7,000 Indians who were stuck in Dubai since Feb 28 have been flown home in last three days and more flights are planned over the next 48 hours from Abu Dhabi, Dubai, Ras Al Khaimah, Sharjah, and Fujairah. Indian ambassador to the UAE Deepak Mittal and Consul General of India in Dubai Satish Sivan Thursday held a meeting with representatives of Indian and UAE airlines “to review the efforts to address the concerns of the Indians stranded in the UAE.”“Stranded Indian nationals can rebook or book on these flights directly with the airlines or through the local agents…. efforts being made by airlines to resume limited, non scheduled flight operations. Travel of nearly 7,000 stranded Indians, especially (those in) transit and those on short term visits, have been facilitated and returned to India over the past three days. Airlines are focussed on gradually increasing these non-scheduled flights from different airports in the UAE depending on airspace safety and operational clearances by the authorities,” the Indian embassy in Abu Dhabi said on X Thursday.
