4 golds! India women boxers dominate Asian Boxing Championships 2026 with 10 medals

NEW DELHI: India’s women’s boxing team delivered a standout performance at the Asian Boxing Championships 2026, finishing at the top of the medal table with 10 medals, including four golds. It was a dominant showing, with every member of the squad returning home with a medal, highlighting the team’s strength and consistency under coach Santiago Nieva.The gold medal run began with Minakshi (48kg), who secured a convincing 5–0 win over Mongolia’s Nomundari Enkh-Amgalan.

Preeti (54kg) followed with an impressive victory against a much more experienced opponent, Chinese Taipei’s Huang Hsiao-wen, winning 5–0 to claim gold. Priya (60kg) added another top finish with a solid 3–0 win over North Korea’s Won Un-gyong, while Arundhati (70kg) sealed India’s fourth gold with a 4:1 victory against Kazakhstan’s Bakyt Seidish.India also picked up two silver medals through Jaismine (57kg) and Alfiyan Pathan (80+kg), both finishing as runners-up after strong campaigns. Along with four bronze medals, this ensured a total of 10 medals for the women’s team, making them the most successful side in the competition.

Mixed results in men’s division

While the women dominated, the men’s team had mixed results but still showed promise. Vishvanath Suresh (50kg) impressed with a commanding 5:0 win over Jordan’s Huthaifa Eshish to reach the final. Sachin (60kg) also advanced after a 4:1 semifinal victory against Thailand’s Sakda Ruamtham.However, several others fell short in their bouts. Akash, Lokesh, Narender, and Harsh Choudhary all lost their matches against tough opponents from Uzbekistan, China, and Tajikistan.India confirmed the highest medal count of the tournament and looked set to finish strongly, with more chances in the men’s finals.
