Royal Challengers Bengaluru’s dressing room erupted in celebration after Director of Cricket Mo Bobat made a bold prediction following the franchise’s historic back-to-back IPL title triumph. After RCB defeated Gujarat Titans in the IPL 2026 final on May 31, Bobat addressed the squad during the post-match celebrations and delivered what has quickly become one of the most talked-about moments from the championship-winning campaign. Praising the team’s remarkable journey and growth, Bobat left the players buzzing with a powerful statement:“I’ve got one last thing to say… no team’s ever won three in a row.”The dressing room instantly burst into cheers as the possibility of creating IPL history sank in. Bobat then turned to captain Rajat Patidar and asked, “Skipper, what do you reckon? Three in a row?”Patidar’s response was immediate and emphatic. “Definitely.”The skipper’s confidence sent the dressing room into a frenzy, with players erupting in celebration. Virat Kohli was among those seen dancing and cheering as the prospect of a historic three-peat added another layer of excitement to RCB’s title celebrations.

A Chance to Create IPL History

By winning consecutive IPL titles in 2025 and 2026, RCB joined an elite list of teams to successfully defend their crown, matching the achievements of Chennai Super Kings (2010-11) and Mumbai Indians (2019-20). However, the challenge laid down by Bobat goes beyond simply defending a title. No franchise in IPL history has ever won three consecutive championships, making the prospect of a 2027 title run even more significant.RCB completed a historic back-to-back IPL title triumph with a dominant all-round campaign, winning 11 of their 16 matches, including Qualifier 1 and the final against Gujarat Titans. Under Rajat Patidar’s leadership, the team moved away from relying solely on Virat Kohli, with contributions coming across both the batting and bowling units. Kohli (675 runs), Patidar (501 runs), Bhuvneshwar Kumar (28 wickets), and Krunal Pandya (226 runs and 14 wickets) were among the standout performers, while players like Venkatesh Iyer, Rasikh Salam Dar, Jacob Duffy, and Josh Hazlewood played crucial supporting roles. RCB’s balanced squad, aggressive approach, and collective team effort proved to be the foundation of their successful title defence and continued dominance in IPL 2026.
